We always have heard that education will make us free, will freedom make us educated?. Not necessarily; however, reading the interview to Bakary Diallo (Rector of the African Virtual University) on the first issue of ‘Walk In’ (UOC, Catalonian Open University) anyone can at least start betting on the fist part of the assertion:

"Ignorant people are more likely to create conflicts, to be poor, to fall ill… Peace depends on knowledge…"

Bakary Diallo

‘Ideas’ is the [Holy] Grail

“Though the flow of capital and labor play a role, it is the flow of ideas that is the main force for the reduction of income inequality, and for the convergence of incomes to a common, growing level.”

Robert E. Lucas Jr. (2009). “Trade and the Diffusion of the Industrial Revolution”. American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, 1:1, 1-25.

In fact, Robert Lucas, in his paper acknowledges that ‘ideas’ on its own are not supposed to act the magic, needing the ability to use the knowledge and, of course, the spillover effect.

Circadian Rythms Calculator

Helter-SkelterDo not confuse bipolar disorders (generally known as ‘manic depression‘ and characterised by sort of continuous episodes of changing mood) with drug addiction…, neither with the action of the circadian rythms (CR). These are, in theory, the rythm of our internal clock. The human daily routine is ancillary managed by the CR.. or perhaps not so secundarily, taking us to the helter-skelter of the ups and downs in our operative actions during approximately 24h a day (not to mention the day is not actually 24 exact hours, although there’s a discussion about the length of the CR).

So, here you have a simple calculator from BBC Online (Science & Nature), or these more accurate ones from R. Refinetti . It’s easy way to calculate what’s the best time for a meeting, for relaxing… or whatever. Any logic?: are you able to program a calculator?, [YES, THEN] it must be a logic!!!; [SO] we can tweak it!!!. Improve yourself by means of science.
